Project 365, Day 270 (9/27/09) Miss Adriana

I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Adriana

and her American Girl friends today. What a fun session it was! I even got to break out a tutu! More to come!

Project 365, Day 269 (9/26/09) Scottville Harvest Parade

We attended the Harvest Parade today, and it was a beautiful day for a parade!

Though the sirens were a bit much for some of us,

we thoroughly enjoyed watching Logan and the rest of Freedom Martial Arts perform!

Project 365, Day 268 (9/25/09) Pathetic

What's really pathetic is when you spend a great deal of your time taking photographs, call yourself a photographer, and yet you have empty frames or frames filled with other people's photos all over your house.

This is not me & Marc.

I must do something about this...

"A photograph is like the recipe - a memory the finished dish." ~Carrie Latet

Project 365, Day 267 (9/24/09) Still a queen to me!

Tonight we hauled the kids down to Scottville to watch the Harvest Festival Queen crowning.

Our beloved friend Alexus was in the running this year, and we wanted to cheer her on.

Alexus looked SO beautiful

and was so incredibly sophisticated and poised... we are very, very proud of her!

Unfortunately, Alexus didn't take the crown this year, but she is still a queen to me! We are so proud of you, Lexi! :)

"Beauty isn't worth thinking about; what's important is your mind. You don't want a fifty-dollar haircut on a fifty-cent head." ~ Garrison Keillor

Project 365, Day 266 (9/23/09) One-of-a-kind

I love these pictures that Logan when he was only in first grade. So much so, that we framed and hanged them. I love how much detail a child will sometimes put into a piece of art - little things that often an adult might overlook.

Not sure what the heck happened with my white balance in this next one, but you get the gist.

"With the most primitive means the artist creates something which the most ingenious and efficient technology will never be able to create." ~ Kasimir Malevich

Project 365, Day 265 (9/22/09) ONLY 100 DAYS TO GO!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Only 100 days left of Project 365, and I can't tell you how relieved I am!

This has been a fun project, but challenging, and when I took this on, I had NO idea how incredibly busy I would become in basically my first year of business! NOT that I'm complaining about that... I feel very, very blessed! :)

On day 265, I give you my cure for EVERYTHING: Mrs. Grass soup with extra noodles. I think everyone has their "comforts" that they need when they're not feeling well, and for me, this is it. Chase it down with a little 7up and I'm on the road to recovery.

"Only the pure in heart can make a good soup.” ~ Beethoven

Project 365, Day 264 (9/21/09) Geo-WHAT?

Flipping thru Logan's (3rd grade) math book and saw this...

This child is in so much trouble if he has to depend on me for this stuff!

“Math is like love -- a simple idea but it can get complicated.” ~ Unknown

Project 365, Day 263 (9/20/09) Lego cart

When we came back from out of town, Marc had a nice little surprise for the boys: a new Lego cart!

Maybe now we'll stop stepping on those little plastic razors! :)

"Handy as a pocket on a shirt." ~ proverb

Project 365, Day 262 (9/19/09) To have and to hold.

Today I had the honor of watching my step-brother Jesse wed his love Annette. It was a beautiful ceremony, great reception, and such a fun theme!

Jesse and Annette

had decided to work the whole luau thing, and it worked out beautifully.

They had a gorgeous arrangement of funky carved fruit and veggies,

not to mention a gorgeous cake,

and beach-themed cupcakes. Yum!

Congrats again, Jesse and Annette! :)

Project 355, Day 261 (9/18/09) Lego my Legos

We have SO many legos now... it's all the boys play with! Marc's got a containment plan up his sleeve...more to come on that.

"I could tell my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio." ~ Rodney Dangerfield

Project 365, Day 260 (9/17/09) Here's lookin at you, cat.

I know, I know... you could spot my pets in a lineup by now. :)

(Again, shot with the "Nifty Fifty"... wide open... love this lens!)

Project 365, Day 259 (9/16/09) Purrrrrrrrrrfect!

I had previously posted a photo of Liz in the kitty costume made by Awesome Aunt Vicky, but Aunt Vicky had to make some alterations to fit my chubby kitty in the suit, so we just got it back today. It fits purrrrrrfectly!

"This Halloween the most popular mask is the Arnold Schwarzenegger mask. And the best part? With a mouth full of candy you will sound just like him." ~Conan O'Brien

Project 365, Day 258 (9/15/09) Nifty Fifty

Thats what a lot of photographers call the 50mm lens. It IS nifty! It's fast, and affordable... you cant' go wrong.

Just playing with my new toy today to get a feel for it.

Check out the depth of field!

"I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it." ~Author Unknown

Project 365, Day 257 (9/14/09) Here to claim her prize!

The lovely Miss Becky was one of the lucky "Mom 2 Mom Sale" drawing winners and was able to meet down at the beach today with her beautiful family to claim her prize.

More to come from this sweet family!

"What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories." ~George Eliot

Project 365, Day 256 (9/13/09) A "Two Fer"

Was at the beach at the crack of dawn this morning (okay... that's a complete exaggeration, but it WAS pretty early!) to meet with Joy, Andy, and their three beautiful boys.

Immediately following, I got to spend some time with two of my favorite tae kwon do'ers, Jason & Andee.

More to come on these awesome families!

Project 365, Day 255 (9/12/09) TBD

Hmmm... pay no attention to this post... I'll come back and fix it later!

Project 365, Day 254 (9/11/09) I have a new baby!

Isn't he adorable??? :D

"The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box." ~Henri Cartier Bresson

Project 365, Day 253 (9/10/09) Still truckin'

"The best angle from which to approach any problem is the try-angle." ~Author Unknown

Project 365, Day 252 (9/9/09) Holy blue room, Batman!

Marc's finished painting the boys' room! The beds have been built, and we're working on the final details. More to come on this project!

"The fellow that owns his own home is always just coming out of a hardware store." ~Kin Hubbard

Project 365, Day 251 (9/8/09) Back to school

It's that time of year again!

This time around, I've got a THIRD grader

and a FIRST grader!

Holy flying time, Batman! I'm going to blink, and they'll be graduating!

Of course, the boys couldn't leave for school without teaching Liz something new.

"If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers." ~Edgar W. Howe

Project 365, Day 250 (9/7/09) Miss Rosie

Had a great time doing Rosie's Senior portraits today! Here is one of my favorites:

More to come of this beautiful young lady!

Rosie, it was a real pleasure to meet you, your mom, and Abby! :)

'The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.' ~Aristotle

Project 365, Day 249 (9/6/09) It's petti-ful, what I put this kid through.

So when Liz received these boots on her 2nd birthday, I knew I wanted to have a photo shoot with Liz involving them.

Well, you know how life gets, and soon enough I was sweating the fact that maybe she'd outgrow them before I was able to photograph her in them!

I just couldn't let that happen. So I bribed her with a giant lollipop, through a petti skirt on her, slipped on her zebra boots, and off we went to the playground.

Hard to believe my little sweetie will soon be

.

The lollipop worked at first,

and she managed to stand still for a few seconds here and there,

but nap time was approaching, and it wasn't long before the attitude came out.

(Luckily I had my camera ready to capture it! Mind you, this was a completely Liz-directed pose... I did NOT tell her to do this...)

Right after I took that shot, she declared alound, "I'M DONE." and stomped off.
Like this:

However, the mere mention of a milk shake brought her back.

Hmmm...wow... I think I found the perfect quote for what I'm feeling lately & what these photos portray!

"A little girl can be sweeter (and badder) oftener than anyone else in the world. She can jitter around, and stomp, and make funny noises that frazzle your nerves; yet just when you open your mouth, she stands there, demure with that special look in her eyes. A girl is Innocence playing in the mud, Beauty standing on its head, and Motherhood dragging a doll by the foot." -- Alan Beck
