If you haven't been to Sandcastle's Children's Museum yet, RUN! Go now!
The kids and I were there for THREE hours on Saturday and would've stayed longer had we not been hungry!
There was so much to do!
From digging in the sandbox
to playing veterinarian
to playing the piano
with a friend
and singing along to the tunes.
We played on the Pere Marquette River exhibit (sponsored by Michigan Power!)
scooped up some fun at the House of Flavors exhibit
and grocery shopped at Best Choice Market.
and blew bubbles.
Need I say more? Do yourself a favor, and enjoy an afternoon of fun!!!

I couldn't resist picking up a copy of this sweet book written by local mom Leona Booms Ashley, with photography done by the talented Sue Brown. The book is about Leona's daughter, Abigail, who was born with cancer in her arm and as a result, had to have her arm amputated.
I can't imagine how this must've felt for Abigail and her family, but their courageousness is inspiring and their spirit very admirable.
I've personally seen Ms. Abigail roaming the halls at the boys' school, and I can attest to the fact that she seems to always have a smile on her face. What a beautiful and strong little girl!
Go out and get your copy today! You can get it on Amazon or stop by The Book Mark in downtown Ludington like I did.

Of all the wonderful things my friend Deb has taught me, Banana Heaven has to be about the best. Deb calls it "Banana Pudding". That just doesn't do it justice, though.
Without further ado, I give you... BANANA HEAVEN.
5.1 oz box instant vanilla pudding
2 C milk
12 oz. Cool Whip
8 oz. cream cheese
1 box Lorna Doone shortbread cookies
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Line a 9x13 pan with the cookies
slice bananas and place on the cookies
Mix together in a large bowl, Cool Whip, sw. cond. milk, and cream cheese.
Mix vanilla pudding mix and milk together until just thickened and add to the Cool Whip mixture.
Blend well and pour over bananas/cookies. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Fact: If you plant said hibiscus plant on the deck, the deer aren't gutsy enough to eat it and it will flourish.

Poor Marc had to work the night of his birthday, and he's sick. But we tried to make the best of it by having a mini-party before he left for work. We had a few presents and his favorite snacks for him, and the kids put forth extra effort to make things... festive.
The kids had just returned from an exciting trip to Nana and Papa's
and were also excited to be reunited with "other" loved ones.

No, not one of my own... I have quite enough of those. :)
What I mean is... I came across more cool baby props this weekend, and I need to photograph a baby! I know there are babies out there! Bring them in! Let's break in these new props!

Today I had the honor of attending four great graduation parties for four awesome seniors. Congrats again to Wes, Weston, Nicole, and Mike!!!
I couldn't resist snapping a couple of photos of Alexus, Weston, & Katelyn at Weston's parents' beautiful lakeside home, as they all looked so smashing.

Today I was given the honor of being Jackson's "Special Person" for Special Person's Day at his school. (I'm not bragging, but he DID pick me.) :)
We had a great time together. First Jackson read to me, then he fixed us a special snack
and after we ate them
we worked on a special painting together.

Logan's class took a community field trip around Ludington today. I met up with them at the Waterfront Park on my lunch break to hang out with them a bit.
We've been visiting the Waterfront Park since Logan was just a baby, and it's almost as though each year's visit marks a milestone for each of the kids.
I remember having to walk two steps behind Logan while he toddled along on the play set. Then nervously watching him from a few feet away while he braved it himself. Next thing I knew, he was easily making his way from bridge to slide without a care in the world.
Once I juggled pushing two kids on two swings; soon enough Logan was learning to pump his legs himself. And now... the monkey bars.
Let's not even mention the fact that in about two years, he'll probably be looking me in the eye when we stand face-to-face. Wow...
"A young child is, indeed, a true scientist, just one big question mark. What? Why? How? I never cease to marvel at the recurring miracle of growth, to be fascinated by the mystery and wonder of this brave enthusiasm." ~ Victoria Wagner
Plus one drywall-plastered ladder
Plus one (or five) mugs of coffee
Plus one hard-working dad = one happy little girl.
Marc's been "revamping" the swingset and is almost done. Liz was pleasantly surprised with the rennovations! "Complete" photos to come...

Can you BELIEVE Memorial Day is next Monday? Holy moly! Maybe it doesn't feel possible because it hasn't really warmed up here yet, but...yeah, it just doesn't seem possible!
Most people get pretty excited, as this is sort of the "unofficial" beginning of summer, and it's a three-day weekend. However, don't forget this Memorial Day the REAL reason you get Monday off, which is to remember those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Every year, the local newspaper runs a section for Father's Day with pictures of area daddies. They award a prize for most comial, look-alike, and best in show. I really wanted to have a nice snapshot to enter this year, so we trudged out to the state park for a few shots last night.
I was SO proud to get this super cute shot of my favorite people in the world
because my photos of them usually look more like this.
Oh....okay, okay... I swapped Liz's head in Photoshop!
My goal was really to get Marc and Elizabeth's "annual" shot, though. You see, in 2007 when she visited the state park for the first time, I took this photo of the two of them:
When we returned in 2008, I thought we should re-create the same shot.
Then it occurred to me, how cool it would be to do this every single year until Liz is 18. Then we can hang all the photos up at her graduation party, even. :) So... here is 2009's shot.
"There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself." ~John Gregory Brown, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery
