Cayden and Family! (Prj 365, Day 88, 3/29/09)

I had such a blast with Cayden and his parents today!

Photobucket

I've known his mom Brandi, owner of Brandi's Hair Salon, for about two years now, but I finally got to meet the rest of her adorable family today, including newly one-year-old Cayden and his Daddy, Chad.

Photobucket

This family was SUCH a joy to have in the studio. As you can see, Cayden is absolutely, positively ADORABLE,

Photobucket

Photobucket

and his mom and dad are just about the nicest people you'll ever meet.

We did a few formal shots,

letting Mr. Cayden roam about in between to scope the place out.

And then it was on to the fun stuff! This was my first "cake smash" session,

Photobucket

and it was hilarious! Every time I think about Cayden's excited giggles

Photobucket

and him looking at his parents and me with a twinkle in his blue eyes,

Photobucket

it brings a smile to my face. What a reward for only having a little bit of frosting to clean up later! :)

He made us all proud with his cake smashing abilities...

but when he was finished, it was, "SEE YA!" :)

Photobucket

And...the aftermath:

Photobucket

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Chad, Brandi, and Cayden, for visiting me today and allowing me to capture such a wonderful and important time for your family. I had so much fun with you all, and I hope these photos do justice for you! :)

"A year's gone by,
How time has flown,
We can't believe
How Cayden's grown!
He's such a joy
And so much fun,
Oh my! Your baby's
Turning One!"

Project 365, Day 87 (3/28/09) ONE

Only ONE more day until my next photo shoot.

Only ONE more day until I will forever freeze in time the precious moments of ONE couple's ONE-year-old baby boy.

This is ONE shoot you're not going want to miss!

Stay tuned! :)

Project 365, Day 86 (3/27/09) Things I'll miss someday.

You can't walk into any room in my house without seeing a trace of one or more child. I get tired of trying to maintain all of this "clutter", no doubt.

But I know that someday, when the house is quiet... someday, when I can read a book uninterrupted...someday, when there are no more crusts to cut off a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and no more spilled milk to clean up...someday, when no one wakes me in the middle of the night just to comfort them... when no one is around to draw me stick figure self portraits or bring me painted wooden vegetables to "eat".... when I have no one to read to at night or tuck in safely into their bed... when no one colors on my walls or leaves globs of toothpaste on the bathroom sink or hides candy wrappers under a toy box...there are sights; every day sites, that I'm going to miss. Someday.

Like the star charts, teacher's notes, and artwork threatening to force my refrigerator to topple forward.

Photobucket

The baby dolls placed sporadically throughout the house.

Photobucket

The toys I trip over in the middle of the night while on my way to answer the call of a child at three A.M.

Photobucket

The comic book hero decor.

Photobucket

The little things that end up in places that make no sense.

Photobucket

The piles of drawings and writings that I can't bear to throw away.

Photobucket

Art projects proudly displayed as though they are a priceless piece of fine art. (Because they are.)

Photobucket

The sippy cups and toddler-sized silverware.

Photobucket

Little shoes lost in a pile of footwear by the door

Photobucket

and the little coats that were selected with care to keep our little ones warm.

Photobucket

Yes, these are just a few of the things....that I will miss someday.

Project 365, Day 85 (3/26/09) My favorite models

Got my new gray card in the mail today and was practicing with custom white balance. Luckily I had a few willing models (even some four-legged furry ones). :)

Project 365, Day 84 (3/25/09) Cupcake-odile

Remember when my sweet friend Jessica sent me the "Hello Cupcake" book? Well, I finally got to put it to use!

Here is my first creation, Craig the Cupcake-odile.

Photobucket

Isn't he adorable? He was so much fun to make, and not as hard as you'd think. It did take me about 2.5 hours from baking to finish, though.

Craig will be delivered to and consumed by Logan's 2nd grade class tomorrow for an early birthday celebration, since Logan's birthday always falls during spring break.

Project 365, Day 83 (3/24/09) Did I mention he is wonderful?

Long day. Finally stopped procrastinating and filed our taxes. *Ouch.* Came home to find that my sweet husband had cleaned the bathroom and had everything ready for me to take a nice warm bath.

Project 365, Day 82 (3/23/09) Say hello to my little friend.

Is this guy cute or what? I created him out of a hair scrunchie to go around my lens so that I can capture the attention of little ones. He still needs a name (any suggestions?), but here he is, being modeled by the Fuji:

Project 365, Day 81 (3/22/09) Driveway dwellers

Today it was SO beautiful outside

Photobucket

that we just sat in the driveway, forever, drawing stuff with chalk.

Photobucket

We traced each other's bodies

and even our shadows. As you'll see....some turned out better than others. :)

Project 365, Day 80 (3/21/09) A Family AfFAIR

Luckily everyone was healthy enough to get out of the house today. The kids and I headed down to MCC Middle School for "A Family AfFAIR". It was our first time attending, and we had a blast!

Several fire departments were on site to show off their engines, along with members of the mounted police department and even the Mason County Mobile Command Center.

Inside was a labyrinth of activities and information... each classroom being set up by a different community organization. There was plenty to keep the kids busy

Photobucket

Photobucket

while the parents learned more about these organizations. Some activities were just for fun, while others served a cause. Memorial Medical Center of Ludington provided endless art supplies for the kids to make "Get Well" cards for MMC patients.

We topped off the day with a quick horse-drawn carriage ride

and headed home to rest off the day's excitement.
