Project 365, Day 198 (7/16/09) Just when you least expect it.

Tonight as Liz was in the bath tub (in a whopping 2" of water...don't call CPS on me!), I was around the corner putting clothes away in her room. I could hear her playing, and therefore thought she was fine.

When I finished, I went back into the bathroom and caught her taking a drink of soapy water from a shampoo bottle. I immediately took it away and looked on the label for any caution info, but there was none. Same online. So I had no other choice but to call Poisen Control.

Luckily, she was fine, but she sure gave us a scare! And of course I felt awful for almost letting her hurt herself.

But let me add, I was a mother for nearly eight years and never once did I have to call P.C. until this girl came along. We had an incident when she was about a year and a half old, where she found a silica packet in a shoe box, bit it, and about gave me a heart attack. Thank goodness it's not toxic, though it is a choking hazard. I found this out from Poisen Control as well.

So...great. We're on their "frequent callers" list.

Or Purple Dew. Whatever. :) More front yard flowers.

Project 365, Day 194 (7/12/09) Empty Nest

Kids are gone. House is quiet. I do enjoy the break, but....

I guess I'm not used to silence anymore.

Project 365, Day 193 (7/11/09) Love is in the air!

Okay, now, let me first make this clear: I am NOT a wedding photographer. I never plan to be. Sorry, folks!

However, I did help out my dear friend Deb Thompson today, assisting her at the wedding of Jessica and Matt.

To my pleasant surprise, I had a blast! Talk about a super-sweet couple, and even the whole wedding party and family was incredibly kind.

Deb did a great job with the wedding. I have to say, I was super impressed with how calm she remained throughout the day, as wedding photography is really unpredictable and can be a little unnerving from time to time. As a person who's now seen the "behind the scenes" of Deb's wedding work, I can tell you, I would highly recommend her if you have a wedding. Tell her "LB Squared" sent you. She'll know who you're talking about. (Winks to Deb...) :)

Although I was just assisting Deb (not 2nd shooting), acting as her "VAL" (Voice-Activated Light Stand), I did have a few opportunities to take some photos, just for fun. Here's a pretty bouquet shot for you.

Project 365, Day 192 (7/10/09) A visit & A discovery

Today I made my way to the east side of the Mitten, dropping the kids off with Ron & Carol along the way.

I made a stop at my sister Angie's house, then picked up my Grandma and took her out for dinner at a place she used to work at and I used to frequent as a child.

After dinner, Grandma and I paid a visit to Grandpa.

I still can't believe he's really gone.

While we were at the cemetary, Grandma showed me Grandpa's mom & dad's gravesites, also. While looking at the photos I took of their tombstones later, I realized something pretty cool...

Jackson and his Great-Great-Grandpa have the same birthday! How cool is that?

What's even weirder is that Elizabeth shares a birthday with her Great-Great-Great-Grandmother - my mom's dad's grandma. Wow, huh?!?

Project 365, Day 191 (7/9/09) On the Road Again...

Road trip!

Am I the only one here who HATES packing? Ugh... I know I'm going to forget something. Hopefully not a child. ha ha (Kidding! Kidding!)

Project 365, Day 190 (7/8/09) Cat Fight!

Our cats are absolutely insane! They are kind of the like boys... best of friends and worst of enemies. Meaning, one minute they're playing and cuddling, and the next minute, they're at each other's throats!

No, really, Scooter & Chloe were just playing here, but it was cracking me up. Just look at that fur fly!

Project 365, Day 189 (7/7/09) Flowers in bottles

Which were FINALLY hung outside today. Aren't they pretty?

Project 365, Day 188 (7/6/09) Cul de Sac Pirates?

Arrrrrrrrgh! Beware ye Cul de Sac Pirates!

If ye scurvy lads come to me court, I'll be runnin ye' off!

By whatever means!

Ye won't be havin' none of my buried treasure!

Baby Sam

Sam visited my studio at just 9 days old and was so much fun to work with! Check out some of the awesome shots we got!

Project 365, Day 187 (7/5/09) Just Beachy.

Living just moments away from beautiful Lake Michigan makes me feel so good inside. It's been a cold and busy summer, but today we finally were able to enjoy our beach.

The only bad part of the day, really, was poor Liz discovering how ill-fitting ladies' swimsuits can be!

Project 365, Day 186 (7/4/09) Independance Day

Here are a few shots from our parade. If you haven't had the pleasure of being on Ludington Ave. during the 4th of July parade, you're missing out! As far as parades go, I think we have one of the best!

I mean, where else do you get FREE ice cream just for showing up to a parade?!?!

We even had our own "celebrities" in the parade this year!

And, of course... the grand finale - The Scottville Clown Town Band! These guys are a hoot!

But let us not forget why we REALLY celebrate this day.

Edited to add... we didn't end up going to the 'big' fireworks this year. Sorry to cheat you out of those photos! :(
